After the �york� has won a competition, the owners of the �Baltimore & Ohio Rail Road Co.� ordered 18 further locomotions from the producer �Grillingham & Winans�. Because of the strangely appearance with vertical boiler, vertical cylinders and silt formed push rods the locomotion got the nickname �Grasshopper� soon. On 24. August 1835 a Grasshopper carried the first train to Washington. Under the name �Columbus� 1836 the company �G.&W.� built a �Grasshopper� for the �Leipzig-Dresdener Eisenbahn� the first locomotion that was exported from America to Germany.
